Job Description:

Saab, Inc. in East Syracuse, NY is seeking an Assembler to join the Manufacturing and Production team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work from wire diagrams, engineering drawings (blueprints), sketches, and written or oral instructions to create layouts and accurately assemble products.
  • Use hand and power tools as needed to complete assemblies.
  • Disassemble, modify, rework, and reassemble production or prototype assemblies and subassemblies according to specifications.
  • Apply advanced electrical and mechanical assembly concepts to resolve complex issues and support company objectives.
  • Understand and apply ESD principles and safeguarding requirements.
  • Properly use hand tools such as torque wrenches, wire cutters, strippers, and crimpers.
  • Identify and resolve tasks independently.
  • Operate equipment including fork trucks, automotive lifts, ladders, lifting platforms, and cranes.
  • May require limited travel, up to 10% annually.


Compensation Range: $21.35 - $25.63/hour

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of relevant assembly or manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions and assembly drawings.
  • Ability to work with materials ranging from small, intricate components to larger, heavier parts.


Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience working on manufacturing flow lines with multiple team members.
  • Background in automotive mechanics or a related field.
  • Comfortable operating automated equipment and understanding mechanical assembly and process flow.
  • Experience with advanced support skills and knowledge of tools, software, or related technologies.


Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb stairs to elevated tower platforms.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to work outdoors as required.

Must be a U.S. citizen. Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
